Age Calculator
What This Calculator Does
Your exact age is a little trickier than “this year minus your birth year” - it depends on whether your birthday has already happened this year. This tool does the careful version: it counts the full years, then the leftover months, then the leftover days, up to today, and also totals all the days you have been alive.
It reads your device’s current date, so the answer stays right every day without you doing anything.
How Age Is Counted
- Count completed calendar months from the birth date, keeping the original day of the month. If that day does not exist in a month, use its last day.
- Split those months into years and leftover months, then count the days since the last completed month.
For example, January 31 to February 28, 2026 is one month; January 31 to March 1 is one month and one day. A February 29 birthday reaches its anniversary on February 28 in a non-leap year. Total days count calendar dates, so daylight-saving clock changes do not add or remove a day.
How to Use It
- Pick your date of birth.
- Read your age in years, months, and days, and the total days.
FAQ
How is age calculated?
Subtract the birth date from today’s date, counting whole years first, then the leftover months and days. The total-days figure is the exact number of days since birth.
Does it use today’s date?
Yes. It reads your device’s current date, so the age is current every time you open the page.
Why might the months and days differ from another tool?
Months have different lengths. This tool uses the last day of a month when the original birth day does not exist in it; other tools may use a different convention. The total number of days is exact regardless.
Can I use it to find age on a future or past date?
This tool uses today. To count the span between any two dates, use the days between dates calculator.
