After a strong move, price often pulls back part of the way before continuing. Fibonacci retracement marks the common pullback points - 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% and 78.6% of the move - and the extension levels project where the next leg might reach. Enter the swing high and low and this tool lays out every level as a price.
How to Use It
- Choose Uptrend or Downtrend:
- Uptrend - the swing ran from the low up to the high; retracements are measured down from the high, and extensions project above it.
- Downtrend - the swing ran from the high down to the low; retracements are measured up from the low, and extensions project below it.
- Enter the swing high and swing low.
- Read the retracement and extension prices from the tables.
How the Levels Are Found
The move’s size is the range, . Each level is that fraction of the range from the end of the move:
- A retracement at level (uptrend) is , so 0% is the high and 100% is the low.
- An extension at level (uptrend) is , so 161.8% sits above the high by 0.618 of the range.
The 50% level is not a true Fibonacci ratio but is included by long convention.
Notes
Levels are reference points, not predictions, and this is not financial advice. Numbers are unit-agnostic - use whatever price scale you are charting.
